According to ASTM A563 Grade A, the required tensile strength of nuts in their flat state can be up to 90 kilopascals (KSI).
The maximum allowable proof load for galvanized steel is 68 kilopascals. This particular grade of nuts can have a hardness that falls anywhere from 116 and 302 HBN on the scale. The DH3 grade has the potential to achieve a tensile strength of 175 ksi, and its hardness can range anywhere from 248 to 352 HBN. The ASME SA563 Heavy Hex Nut standard takes into account a wide variety of mechanical qualities in addition to chemical and thermal treatments. These nuts have a chemical makeup that includes carbon, manganese, phosphorus, and sulfur, among other substances. There is a discernible change in the quantities involved.
